As part of our daily operations, we need to collect personal data from our students and prospective students in order to provide our products and services in line with each individual's values, interests and profile.

The privacy of your information is of great importance to Educantes, and it is our policy to respect the confidentiality of information and the privacy of people. This Policy stipulates how personal data processing operations take place, in accordance with current laws and regulations.

Our Privacy Policy is regularly reviewed to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and new technologies, reflecting possible changes in our operations and business practices. It is important that you regularly access this policy, and that you observe the update date provided below.

This Privacy Policy applies to the personal data processing activities of students, potential students of Educantes Plataforma Educacional.

1. General Considerations

Educantes respects the privacy of all holders of personal data, and is therefore committed to taking all possible measures to reasonably ensure the protection of the personal data collected.
All information is handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws and regulations.
Technical and organizational procedures are in place to ensure that your information is always secure. As part of these procedures, we regularly train and make all our employees aware of the importance of maintaining, safeguarding and respecting their personal information and we consider the violation of the privacy of personal data very serious fault, so we constantly monitor and provide for appropriate disciplinary measures in case non-compliances.

Educantes may use different ways to collect personal data, such as:

  • When they are provided by filling out forms, questionnaires, email, websites, mail, applications, telephone, contracts, through the delivery of personal documents, in situations that include, for example:
    • Have or intend to have a working relationship with Educantes;
    • Provide or intend to provide us with products and/or services;
    • Request products or services from Educantes;
    • Create an account on our website;
    • Hire services from Educantes;
    • Request the submission of marketing or institutional materials;
    • Participate in a promotion or survey;
    • Contact us for feedback.
  • Through access data to our Sites;
  • Through publicly available sources.

 

2What access data is collected by our website and App?

Information collected from users when using the website includes, but is not limited to, the user's browser access; Internet Protocol (IP) address; date and time of access; the user's location; and the user's actions on the website.

Information collected from users when using the App includes, but is not limited to, the mobile device model and operating system used for access; Internet Protocol (IP) address; date and time of access, application version; user connection provider; user location; and the user's actions on the App.

These collected data are used for the purposes presented in section 4 of this document.

 

3What information is collected for account creation?

To register on our Site and App, and subsequent creation of an account, the following data must be informed:

  • Full name, e-mail, CPF (for Brazilians only), Date of Birth, Phone numbers for contact;
  • Nationality, Country of Origin;
  • Postcode, Address, House/Flat Number or Complement;
  • Neighborhood/State/County and City;
  • Select CNH or RG/RNE, and inform: Issuing Agency, Document Number, Issue Date, Security Code and Issuer State (for Brazilians only);

 

4. Why does Educantes collect and use your personal data?

We may use your personal information for the following purposes:

  1. To create an account on our platform.
    We need to verify your identity in order to validate you as a customer, and this may include credit or identity checks by third parties. The use of your personal information is necessary for us to identify who you are, as we have a legal obligation to comply with the "Know your costumer " and other regulatory obligations.

  2. To purchase a course
    We will need to use your personal data to perform our services and comply with our financial obligations. We will use the information to carry out order processing and purchase/sell products as requested and based on the contractual relationship with our customers, thereby complying with our contractual obligations.

  3. To fulfill a legal obligation. 
    There are a variety of legal obligations arising from the applicable laws to which we are subject (e.g. financial services legislation, tax laws, etc). There are also a number of supervisory authorities whose laws and regulations we are subject to. Such obligations and regulations require us to perform personal data processing activities for credit checks, identity verification, compliance with court orders, tax laws and other obligations.

  4. To send communications and satisfaction surveys.  
    We may occasionally send you communications and satisfaction surveys as part of our customer feedback process. It is in our legitimate interest to obtain such opinions to ensure that our services/products are being provided at the highest level. However, you have the legal right to opt it out.

  5. To analyse our platform and App performance. 
    Our website and App contain data analysis tools that allow us to analyze their performance to ensure the quality of our platform and provide the best user experience. The information collected is not considered personal in accordance with the terms of the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (which mirrors the European and British GDPR), as it is used in a way that does not link to any user, since this information is anonymized.

  6. For advertising purposes. 
    We may use your personal data to send you marketing communications via email, telephone, or other previously agreed ways (including social media campaigns) to ensure that you are always up to date about our products and services. When we send you marketing communications, these will be based upon your consent. You can consent by checking the options “I would like to receive opportunities and news about new courses in the e-mail” and/or “I would like to receive opportunities and news about investments in WhatsApp” when registering. 

  7. To guarantee property security and physical integrity. 
    If you come to visit our facilities, we may record your image through our monitoring system for security reasons. Personal information will also be collected to provide your login credentials in order to maintain a safe working environment.

  8. To provide guarantee of fraud prevention and security for holders. 
    We need to process personal data for the purpose of analysis and fraud prevention, in different scenarios. In addition, we may process personal information for the purpose of securing data subjects, preventing potential crimes, measures against intrusion, and asset security.

  9. To safeguard legitimate interests. 
    We process personal data to safeguard our legitimate interests. Some examples of such activities include:

    • Initiating legal claims and preparing our defense in litigation cases;
    • Establish monitoring systems for our facilities, for security reasons;
    • Business management measures, platform performance optimization, and product and service development;
    • To share your personal data with the companies that work with Educantes to ensure that you have the best experience and satisfaction when using our services.

4.1 Obtaining Your Consent

Your personal data will be only used upon your consent, which is provided through our website.

If you wish to revoke your consent, so that we no longer send communications and marketing emails, this can be done through the cancellation option present at the bottom of the correspondence you will receive.


5Sharing personal data

Subject to the criteria defined in this Policy, Educantes will not disclose personal data of its customers to a third party, except:

  • To meet the required extent within the terms of applicable laws, rules or regulations;
  • In view of the existence of an obligation to disclose;
  • For a legitimate interest that requires disclosure; or
  • At the customer's request, with their consent.

Third parties to which personal information is shared in order to perform the contracted services must carry out and follow the same privacy statement as stated here. We require from Educantes partner organizations to respect all individual privacy rights and comply with all relevant data protection laws.

As part of using your data for the aforementioned purposes, we may from time to time disclose your personal information to:

  • Third party entities such as commercial service providers and specialized consultants contracted for administrative, financial, legal, security, research and other services;
  • Third parties that are carrying out audit work;
  • Business parties, credit providers, courts, controlling bodies and regulatory authorities;
  • Payment service providers and/or banking institutions to generate and control payments;
